Bootstrap 3 Implementation of a Clear Navbar

I'm trying to create a transparent navbar using the code below:

<div class="navbar navbar-default navbar-fixed-top" style="top:50px; background:transparent;">
  <div class="navbar-inner">
    <div class="container">
      <ul class="nav navbar-nav">
        <a class="navbar-brand">My Company</a>
        <li><a href="#">Home</a></li>
        <li><a href="#">Portfolio</a></li>
      <li><a href="#">Contact</a></li>
      </ul>
    </div>
  </div>
</div>

However, when I added background:transparent; there are now white lines above and on top of the navbar. How can I fix this issue and make the navbar truly transparent?

Answer №1

To enhance the appearance, include border:0; and box-shadow:none

<div class="navbar navbar-default navbar-fixed-top">
      <div class="navbar-inner">
            <div class="container">
                 <ul class="nav navbar-nav">
                      <a class="navbar-brand">My Organization</a>
                      <li><a href="#">Home</a></li>
                      <li><a href="#">Projects</a></li>
                      <li><a href="#">Get in Touch</a></li>
                 </ul>
           </div>
      </div>
</div>

MODIFY Correct method of adding CSS:

.navbar-default{
    background:none !important;
    border: 0;
    box-shadow:none !important;
    -webkit-box-shadow: none !important;
}

Answer №2

Yes, that styling is for the border. You can try adding border: none !important to override it.
