Tips for utilizing external CSS solely within a designated section

Currently, I'm working on a web application that requires the option to display a specific area using Bootstrap 4.1 or Bootstrap 3. The entire application is already built using Bootstrap 3: https://i.sstatic.net/pPuM6.png

I have already implemented the logic to switch between Bootstrap 4 and Bootstrap 3.

However, when I try to insert Bootstrap 4, the styling affects the entire page.

 <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://stackpath.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.1.0/css/bootstrap.min.css" integrity="sha384-9gVQ4dYFwwWSjIDZnLEWnxCjeSWFphJiwGPXr1jddIhOegiu1FwO5qRGvFXOdJZ4" crossorigin="anonymous">

Is there a way to apply Bootstrap 4.1 only to a specific area within the page?

Answer №1

Looks like you have some tasks ahead of you.

  • Begin by downloading Bootstrap 4's source files and opening the bootstrap.scss file.
  • Wrap the entire CSS content with a class name of your choosing.

For example:

.your_class_name {
  /*Source files*/
}

You now have an SCSS file.

  • Next, visit this website and convert your code to a CSS file.

You'll observe that all of Bootstrap's classes are now prefixed with your chosen class name.

  • Copy that CSS file into your project.

In your HTML code, simply start with

<div class="your_class_name">
and wrap your content within it.

Bootstrap 4's classes will only be applied to the elements inside the div with your chosen class name.
