Struggling to align the login button accurately within the navbar

For proper alignment, the "Login" button needs to be pushed to the right of the navbar alongside other buttons. To see the issue and the code, check out this JSFiddle example: https://jsfiddle.net/sterlingmd17/tk17zjfq/1/

<nav class="navbar navbar-inverse navbar-fixed-top">
      <div class="container">
        <div class="navbar-header">
          <button type="button" class="navbar-toggle collapsed" data-toggle="collapse" data-target="#navbar" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="navbar">
            <span class="sr-only">Toggle navigation</span>
            <span class="icon-bar"></span>
            <span class="icon-bar"></span>
            <span class="icon-bar"></span>
          </button>
          <a class="navbar-brand" href="#">Project name</a>
        </div>
        <div id="navbar" class="navbar-collapse collapse">
          <ul class="nav navbar-nav">
            <li class="{{a}}"> <a href="/">Home</a></li>
            <li class="{{b}}"> <a href="#order">Order form</a></li>
            <li class="{{c}}"> <a href="#about">About Swirlz</a></li>
            <li class="{{d}}"> <a href="#contact">Contact</a></li>
            <!--Adjust login button positioning here-->
            <div class="btn-group dropdown">
            <button class="btn btn-secondary dropdown-toggle" type="button" id="dropdownMenuButton" data-toggle="dropdown" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false">
              Login
            </button>
            <div class="dropdown-menu" aria-labelledby="dropdownMenuButton"></div>
          </div>
          </ul>

        </div>

    </nav>

Answer №1

To start, the button div needs to be moved outside of the unordered list tags. Then, the classes navbar-form and navbar-right should be added to the button div.

The updated structure should resemble the following:

<div id="navbar" class="navbar-collapse collapse">
  <ul class="nav navbar-nav">
    <li class="{{a}}"> <a href="/">Home</a></li>
    <li class="{{b}}"> <a href="#order">Order form</a></li>
    <li class="{{c}}"> <a href="#about">About Swirlz</a></li>
    <li class="{{d}}"> <a href="#contact">Contact</a></li>
  </ul>
  <!--TODO fix login button positioning -->
  <div class="navbar-form navbar-right btn-group dropdown">
    <button class="btn btn-secondary dropdown-toggle" type="button" id="dropdownMenuButton" data-toggle="dropdown" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false">
      Login
    </button>
    <div class="dropdown-menu" aria-labelledby="dropdownMenuButton"></div>
  </div>
</div>
