Discovering the screen width and increasing its value using CSS

Is there a way to determine the screen size and then add 253px to it?
For example, in CSS:

.element {
  width: calc(100% + 253px);
}

What would be the best approach to achieve this?

Answer №1

shoutout to my buddy Alex

.wrapper { min-height: calc("~90vh - 100px"); }

Answer №2

You have the ability to adjust the width and height in relation to the viewport using vh and vw units.

If you wish to include an offset in pixels, you can achieve this with the following code snippet:

.container { min-height: calc(" ~100vh - 150px"); }

Answer №3

If you want to adjust a percentage of the browser window and either increase or decrease it by a certain number of pixels using CSS, you must include

ElementSelector { width: calc(100% - 253px) }
in your style sheet. This is because without the "calc" function, the math calculations cannot be performed accurately due to the units being different.
