What is the proper way to target a div element that has the class of "name1 name2"?

Currently, I am learning CSS through a tutorial and there is a div with the class:

<div class="related products">

I am curious, how do I target this specific div in my stylesheet?

Answer №1

The division element actually possesses dual classes, related and products. These classes can be targeted in your style sheet by utilizing either .related or .products, enabling the element to inherit styles from both classes. For instance, applying the following CSS properties would render the text within the division element in your query as red with a font size of 12:

.related { color:#ff0000 }
.products { font-size:12px }

To target elements that have both classes, you can use .related.products in your style sheet. Extending the previous example, include the following snippet:

.related.products { font-weight:bold }

Consequently, the text within your division element will adhere to all three rules as it satisfies all three selectors. Here is a functioning illustration.

Answer №2

div.relevant.items is the standard approach

Answer №3

To access it, you can use the selector div.related.products which simply means "a div with the classes related and products".

Alternatively, you can reference it by using either of the class names, as it will still work.

Check out this jsFiddle Example.

Answer №4

To style the div in the CSS, simply use the class name of "related products" like so:

.related products {
/* add your styling here */
}

Any styling specified within the "related products" class will impact that particular div element.
