Is it possible to overlay a div onto a Google Map?

Does anyone know of a plugin or method that can achieve this?

I have a website at this link, and at the bottom there is a map. I'm looking to add a small overlay box on top of the map with contact information inside.

Edit: The box should be positioned on top of the watery part of the map. :)

Answer №1

If you're looking to customize the position of a div, consider the following code snippet:

<div class="section" id="contact">
    <div style="width:100px; height:200px; background:#ccc;z-index:999999;position:absolute;">test</div>
</div>

To adjust the positioning, simply add a div after your section and set the top and left values accordingly (e.g. top:"desired value"; left:"desired value";).

Best of luck with your customization!

Answer №2

This example shows how to create a similar layout using CSS instead of inline styles:

<div id="mainContainer">
    <div id="overlayContent">
        <p><a href="#" class="linkStyle">Click here for more information</a></p>
    </div>
    <div class="mapContainer" id="googleMap" style="width: 100%; height: 400px;"></div>
</div>
