Is it possible to create a webpage that is invisible to users accessing it from a desktop device

Is it possible to create a webpage that is only visible on tablet and mobile devices, while redirecting desktop users somewhere else? I want this page to be hidden from desktop users entirely.

Answer №1

By incorporating media queries, you have the ability to show or hide content based on the user's screen size. For instance, you can conceal certain content and display a pop-up message when the screen reaches a specific size; for example, .content will only be visible if the screen is 500px wide.

(To witness this in action, click run and then full page, resize your browser, and observe the content hiding/revealing)

@media screen and (min-width: 500px) {
            .content {
                display: none;
           }
        }
<div class="content">
            <p>This is my website</p>
        </div>

Alternatively, if you wish to completely remove the content, you can utilize the mobile checker provided here - Detecting a mobile browser, and if it returns false, take the following actions:

var content = document.getElementById("content");
content.remove(content);
