Table lines that are indented

I am currently in the process of transforming a standard HTML table into an indented version like this:

Is there a way to hide the initial part of the border so that it aligns with the start of the text, even if I can't do it directly in HTML?

Answer №1

Finding creative solutions is key when facing challenges like this one. There are countless approaches you can take.

For instance, consider using different classes, leaving empty table cells, and utilizing colspans. Check out this example for a visual demonstration: http://jsfiddle.net/ESFuC/

Answer №2

To accomplish this, you can manipulate the table cells and utilize the display:inline-block; property. While there are alternative methods to achieve the same result, using this approach should be compatible with most web browsers.

Answer №3

Have you considered using div containers within table cells, similar to this setup?

I highlighted the bottom border in red, everything looks good except for the one at the very bottom. Perhaps some customization is needed to better fit your requirements.
