Exploring Media Queries Using Chrome Dev Tools

After an extensive search, it seems that the issue may lie in the fact that what I am seeking does not actually exist.

When updating websites, I find myself constantly tracking down media queries. Is there a method to display all media queries for a specific element?

Although I can change the emulator to a specific device, it does not reveal the media queries for that element based on the device size.

I have considered the possibility of a setting for this feature, but unfortunately, I have not been able to locate it.

How can I easily view all media queries affecting an element in the DOM while using Google Chrome Tools?

Answer №1

To achieve this, simply follow these steps:

1. Start by launching Google Chrome and opening the web tools,

2. Click on the emulator icon within the tools,

3. Locate the Option button represented by the symbol at the upper-right corner of the page, just beneath the bookmarks bar,

4. Select the "Show media queries" option,

5. This will display all media breakpoints for you to see,

6. Right-click on the breakpoints you are interested in and choose "Reveal in source code" to view the corresponding CSS.
