Why does the font-awesome CSS file fail to work while the font-awesome CDN is successful?

I've noticed that when using the font-awesome CSS file, the icons do not display properly. However, when I use the CDN and keep all the code the same, it works perfectly. Can someone explain why this happens? Here is my code:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="assets/css/font-awesome.min.css">
<!-- <link href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/4.2.0/css/font-awesome.min.css" rel="stylesheet"> -->
<title>Test Page</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="assets/css/style.css">
</head>
<body>
<i class="fa fa-car"></i>
<i class="fa fa-car" style="font-size:48px;"></i>
<i class="fa fa-car" style="font-size:60px;color:red;"></i>
</body>
</html>

It seems like you may have overlooked adding the fonts folder to your project structure, which is why it wasn't working as expected.

In the image below, I have demonstrated how adding the fonts in a folder named webfonts resolved the issue. Without this folder, the fonts won't display properly.

If you need more information on hosting Font Awesome yourself, refer to the official documentation here. It provides clear instructions on setup and usage.

<head>
  <link href="/your-path-to-fontawesome/css/all.css" rel="stylesheet"> <!--load all styles -->
</head>
<body>
  <i class="fas fa-user"></i> <!-- uses solid style -->
  <i class="far fa-user"></i> <!-- uses regular style -->
  <i class="fal fa-user"></i> <!-- uses light style -->
  <!--brand icon-->
  <i class="fab fa-github-square"></i> <!-- uses brands style -->
</body>

If you encounter any difficulties, make sure to refer back to the documentation link provided in this response for assistance.

Lastly, keep in mind that class names may change between versions, so always check the latest updates on the official Font Awesome website here.

Three cars unexpectedly appeared, indicating a potential significance. Moreover, some web browsers may not render font styles like Comic Sans due to compatibility issues with certain PC types.
