Using CSS to Customize TextField Focus in NativeScript

How can the focus state of a textfield be controlled in NativeScript? I would like to change its style when a user taps into it and begins typing, such as altering the border or background. Is there a way to achieve this using only CSS or by adding a stylable class?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Discover more about accessing native APIs in Chapter 6—Accessing Native APIs from this page

As of now, there isn't a built-in way in NativeScript to style a text field's hint color using CSS. Although this feature is requested in an open issue, both iOS and Android provide methods to achieve this task. With NativeScript, you have direct access to these platform-specific APIs.

While the sample code on the page demonstrates how to accomplish this without CSS, it may be integrated into version 2.4 in the future. There is already a recognized issue regarding this implementation.
