Tips on aligning text link to the right within li using CSS

I am looking to adjust the position of a text link that is currently aligned to the left inside an li element, by moving it slightly to the right.

Is there a way to achieve this effect without changing the overall layout?

Page link:

CSS:

#secondnav li a {
    border: medium none;
    display: block;
    padding: 3px 8px;
}
#secondnav li a {
    display: block !important;
    line-height: 42px !important;
    padding-left: 15px;
    text-align: left;
    text-decoration: none;
    width: 230px;
}
#secondnav li a {
    background-color: #FFC477;
    border: 1px solid white !important;
    color: #FFFFFF;
    font-size: 18px !important;
    position: relative;
    right: 30px;
    z-index: 1;

Answer №1

To achieve the desired effect, you have the option to utilize either the text-indent property by itself or combine it with padding-left while also decreasing the value of the width.

Answer №2

Update the padding values to "3px 0px 3px 18px". Remember, the order should be: "top right bottom left".

Answer №3

To add some space to the a{ element on the left side, you can set the margin-left property to your desired value in pixels. Here is an example:

` #secondnav li a { margin-left: 3px; }

`

Answer №4

Consider incorporating the following style rule into your CSS file

#secondnav li a {
    text-indent: 4px;
}
