Responsive design for off-canvas layouts

I am seeking a functional and user-friendly demonstration of off-canvas responsive design. My goal is to mirror the layout of the Google+ android app, specifically by incorporating a side panel on the right-hand side.

Something similar to this particular example. However, this specific example presents several challenges:

  • Does not function smoothly on touch screens (tested in Chrome on Galaxy Nexus);
  • The menu should be located beneath the content div instead of sliding alongside it;
  • The 'menu' button does not slide along with the content div when moved to the right.

Could you provide guidance on how best to tackle a project like this?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
