Is there a possible CSS-only alternative to the calc() function that can be used as a fallback

I'm aware of a CSS backup plan for calc() in IE6-7. Also, I've come across an alternative using jQuery.

But what about a CSS-only substitute for calc() specifically for IE8? Is there one available?

Answer №1

Here is an example of how to achieve this:

.content{
    padding-right: 500px;
    width: 100%;
    -moz-box-sizing: border-box;
    box-sizing: border-box;
}

Check out the DEMO here

Answer №2

In IE 8 and above, dynamic properties are not supported anymore.

Dynamic properties, also known as "CSS expressions," are no longer compatible with Internet Explorer versions 8 and higher when in IE8 Standards mode or later.
