Lately, I have been immersing myself in CSS educational resources and delving into the CSS spec. The concept of "ideal size" has caught my attention a few times. I'm not sure if it's a strictly technical term or more informal.

My interpretation of "ideal size" is like "the size an element desires to be most when not restricted in any way". But I'm still uncertain.
Is there an official definition for this term? Could someone provide a close approximation of its meaning?
