I am interested in creating an image that fills the entire screen and remains that way until

I am currently working on incorporating a full screen image to my page, which can be found at

My goal is to have the image fill 100% of the width and height of the screen until the user scrolls down to reveal the content below.

To give you an idea of what I am aiming for, check out this site as an example:

Notice how the image on that website remains fullscreen until the user starts scrolling.

Just to provide some context, I am building this website using Adobe Muse CC.

Answer №1

To achieve the desired effect, make sure to apply background-attachment: fixed; along with background-image and background-size: cover;

For a display on larger screens, check out this link: http://codepen.io/suez/full/wulBv/

* {
  -moz-box-sizing: border-box;
       box-sizing: border-box;
  margin: 0;
}

html, body {
  height: 100%;
}

div {
  width: 100%;
  height: 100%;
}
div.first {
  background-image: url("http://i.imgur.com/PbV1Grl.jpg");
  background-attachment: fixed;
  background-size: cover;
}
div.second {
  background-image: url("http://i.imgur.com/VWYl1EC.jpg");
  background-size: cover;
}
<div class="first"></div>
<div class="second"></div>

Answer №2

You might want to consider including the CSS property position: fixed on the div element with the background.
