How can I resolve the issue of white space to the right when a horizontal scrollbar appears on browsers?

Whenever my website is scaled down and a horizontal scroll bar appears, there seems to be a white space on the right side of the webpage at the footer.

Is there a way to resolve this issue? URL:

Answer №1

@Sarah G: I wanted to address this separately instead of adding it as a comment on your response. Let me know if that's okay.

Sarah made some good points, but for better clarity, here are my suggestions:

  1. Eliminate the padding-left: 180px; style from the .footerWrapper class
  2. Delete the width: 100%; property from #footer
  3. Include the min-width: 1141px; in the #footer section

By making these changes, the issue with the white-space should be resolved.

Answer №2

The issue arises from specifying the width of wrapper as 1141px and footer as 100%. This setup causes a horizontal scroll bar to appear when the width is less than 1141px, while the footer remains at 100% of the window size, creating excess white space on the right-hand side.

Answer №3

Take out any spaces between the closing tag of the footer </div> and the end of the body </body>

It should be like this: </div></body>
