How can I implement a side bar menu with a pop-out module/panel in Drupal?

Currently working on developing a sidebar navigation similar to the one found on this website:

Using the Adaptive Theme in Drupal along with panels, I have successfully designed the layout. The only issue remaining is how to activate a panel after clicking an item on the menu, just like it functions on the referenced website. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Answer №1

To start, conceal your expandable panel with CSS using display: none; and then employ JQuery to reveal the panel upon clicking a menu link. For detailed instructions on how to implement this technique, refer to the following post which provides both CSS and jQuery solutions: https://css-tricks.com/snippets/jquery/styled-popup-menu/
