How can I align multiple lines of text vertically?

Currently employing:

#leftfoot {padding-left: 20px; vertical-align: middle;}

Unfortunately, this code is not yielding the desired results. Despite searching through numerous explanations, I haven't been able to find a solution that works for me. Can anyone offer advice on how to vertically align multiple lines of text?

Glares frustratingly at CSS.

Answer №1

#leftfoot {
    height: 110px;
    display:table-cell;
    vertical-align: middle;
    padding-left: 20px;
}

The problem lies in the fact that while your text was centered vertically, the inner div did not extend to the boundaries of the outer div because it had the same height as the text. To fix this issue, you need to set a specific height for the inner div.

It seems like there might be some confusion with your question. It would be helpful to create a JsFiddle to provide visual clarity. If you would like to learn more about Vertical-align, you can visit http://css-tricks.com/what-is-vertical-align/
