Display immersive full-screen overlays that encompass the entire vertical space without the need for scrolling

Recently, I ran into a challenge while attempting to create a CSS print style-sheet. The issue arose when I tried to print a full-screen overlay containing scrollable content. Only the content that was currently displayed would show up in the printed version, while the non-displayed content seemed to be ignored. I am now searching for ways to adjust the print mode using CSS so that the full-screen overlay will be printed in its entirety, just like a regular page (regardless of whether it is currently visible or not).

Answer №1

It appears that you are currently using an overlay, which may have led to the scrolling being disabled and the position being fixed on your HTML's body tag.

// It is recommended to eliminate the following CSS properties
body {
  overflow: hidden;
  position: fixed;
}

Answer №2

If your overlay is an image or a div with a background image, you can adjust its positioning rules specifically for when the page is printed using the following CSS code:

@media print {
    /* CSS code for printing */
}

To ensure that the overlay fills the entire screen, you can use the following positioning properties:

position: absolute; /*consider using "fixed" instead; */
top: 0;
left: 0;
width: 100vw;
height: 100vh;
