As I adjust the size of my browser, my website dynamically resizes to match

Recently, I created a website but encountered a bug where the website resizes when I resize my browser. This issue has been observed in Firefox (10.0.2), Chrome (16.0.912.77), and Opera (11.60) browsers. Interestingly, when testing other websites such as omgubuntu and webupd8, resizing in Firefox does not affect the website layout. I would like to provide images as evidence, but unfortunately, I need to reach a reputation of 10 to do so.

Answer №1

To ensure your website maintains a consistent width, you can use CSS to assign a specific width (for example, 1000px) to the <body> element and apply margin: 0 auto; to center the content. This adjustment may require narrowing the width of your navigation links and repositioning ads, but it will prevent your site from resizing based on the browser window size.

Answer №2

If you're looking to streamline your CSS, I highly recommend incorporating a reputable CSS framework. There are a couple of top contenders:

These frameworks offer the convenience of a fixed width layout along with a simple method for dividing columns into grids.
