Are there any alternative methods to override CSS besides using !important or adjusting the specificity of the element?

I'm currently working on styling a webpage and facing a challenge. I am limited to editing only the CSS file without being able to touch the HTML code. Despite using !important and specificity, I am struggling to override some existing styles. How can I go about overriding CSS even further in this situation?

Answer №1

If you're attempting to replace inline styles, it may be challenging to do so based on my understanding.

Answer №2

When it comes to CSS, the final loaded value for a specific style block is what takes precedence. By ensuring that you insert your own CSS file last without any !important declarations preceding it, everything should work smoothly.

Answer №3

To override inline styles effectively, one must utilize ID Selectors with the !important declaration.

It is important to note that when attempting to override inline !important styles, the most reliable approach is to implement a user style sheet in your browser. This will take precedence over inline CSS marked as !important.

Author style sheets, on the other hand, are unable to override inline !important styles - based on my knowledge and experience.
