An issue has been identified where the checked selection feature is not functioning correctly for CSS selections

Is there a way to change the border color of a label when a checkbox is checked using CSS selectors?

Here's an example of what I have tried:

label{
  width:36px;
  height:36px;
  padding:9px;
  border:1px solid gray;
  border-radius:36px;
}

#checker:checked label{
  border-color:red;
}
<label for="checker">test</label>
<label for="checker">test</label>

<input type="checkbox" id="checker" checked >

Answer №1

To work around the limitation of CSS not being able to select previous elements, you need to position your input tag before the label. Then adjust the selector to :checked+label

label {
  width: 36px;
  height: 36px;
  padding: 9px;
  border: 1px solid gray;
  border-radius: 36px;
}

#checker:checked+label {
  border-color: red;
}
<input type="checkbox" id="checker" checked/>
<label for="checker">test</label>
