Why is my bootstrap-enhanced website appearing unattractive on MSIE 8?

Check out my website at

My website displays perfectly in browsers like Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and the Android Browser. However, when I viewed it on Internet Explorer 8 at my parent's house, it looked all messed up. How can I improve the compatibility of my site with IE? This is why front-end development can be so frustrating. Appreciate any help in advance!

Answer №1

Your website is lacking a proper doctype declaration which is causing quirks mode to trigger in Internet Explorer.

To fix this issue, simply add the following line at the beginning of your web page:

<!DOCTYPE html>

If your page appears off-center in IE7, it may be due to the following CSS code:

.row {
    zoom: 1;
}

To resolve this problem, remove the zoom property from the CSS code and your page should display properly centered in IE7.
