Ways to automatically close the dropdown button when the user clicks outside of it

Is there a way to automatically close the dropdown button when a user clicks outside of it?

Check out this link for possible solutions

Answer №1

If you want to close the dropdown menu and uncheck a checkbox when the window is clicked, you can achieve this by adding a click event listener to the window.

Below is the code snippet that accomplishes this:

let checkbox = document.querySelector('#delete-drop-down');

window.addEventListener('click', ()=>{
  checkbox.checked = false;
});

checkbox.addEventListener('click', event=>{
  event.stopPropagation();
});

The event.stopPropagation() method prevents the click event on the checkbox from bubbling up to the window, ensuring that the dropdown menu remains open until desired.

Answer №2

Implemented with JavaScript, included CSS styling and implemented a feature to close the dropdown when clicking outside by creating an invisible div ID (invisible) and changing the dropdown's class using JS to make it disappear.
