Using HTML symbols can alter the height of the text

It seems like I'm making a mistake - whenever I try to include an HTML symbol before a word, the following word without the HTML symbol ends up with a different height and is not on the same line.

Answer №1

The issue lies in the default size of the symbol. By defining a specific size for the symbol, you can resolve this problem. Take a look at the code snippet below:

.a {
    display: flex;
}
h1 {
    text-transform: uppercase;
}
span.symbol {
    font-size: 26px;
}
<div class="a">
    <h1><span class="symbol">&#9785;</span>123-456-789</h1>
    <h1>text 2017</h1>
</div>

To sum it up:

Enclose the symbol within a span and specify its font size.

span.symbol {
    font-size: 26px;
}

<div class="b"><h2>&#9784;789-456-123text 2020</h2>

give this a shot, I believe it should do the trick
