We have a long frame on the page, with an aspect ratio of about 3.5:1 width to height. However, most of the photos being displayed are in a 4:3 ratio, which is larger and not a proper fit for the frame.
The customer really wants the long frame and has no plans to change its size at this point.
Currently, the photos are being displayed by resizing the width to fit the frame's width and then filling from the top of the photo to the bottom of the frame. This results in almost half of the photo being cut off at the bottom, making it look unappealing.
I realize that it's nearly impossible to perfectly fit both the width and height without distorting the photo.
My plan is to try displaying part of the photo from the center instead.
How can I achieve this using CSS?
Note: The "frame" mentioned here is represented by a "div" element.
