Tips for applying CSS styles to the active page link

Check out the code below:

Is there a way to assign a specific class to the current page link so that the mouse cursor will display as default rather than changing to a hand icon?

I'm looking for a solution where I can apply a class to the active list item and have it use the default cursor. For example, having the "Home" link in index.html show a default cursor when on the home page. Thank you!

Start by uniquely identifying the body element for each page to distinguish where you are.

//when on the home page

<body id="home"> //or services or contact
    <ul id="navigation">
        <li class="home">
            <a> and so forth...
        <li class="services">
            <a> and so forth...

Next, assign classes to indicate the current page.

//basically saying "if on 'this' page, style the link with 'this' class"

#home .home, //style the home link as "current" when body ID is "home"
#services .services, //style services link as "current" when body ID is "services"
#contact .contact { //style contact link as "current" when body ID is "contact"
    //styles for current page
}

For your hover state, consider adding this:

cursor: default;

As an example:

#list2 a span:hover {
    cursor: default;
}

Typically, using default will display the arrow cursor, which is likely what you're aiming for.
