The grid lines are crisscrossing in an alternating pattern

I've created a grid with four corners using four separate span elements. You can find the Plunker code for this project here.

My goal is to have the vertical bars drawn on top of the horizontal bars in the grid. For example, the yellow bar should be above the black and green bars so that the intersecting regions are colored yellow. I also want the brown bar to be above the green bar.

Any suggestions on how I can achieve this visually appealing layout?

Answer №1

If you want to achieve the desired effect, just include the following lines in your code:

.left, .right{
    z-index:1;
}

That should solve the issue for you.
