The content has spilled over from the div and leaked into the adjacent div

When the left div's content exceeds the right div's, it spills over into the next container div.

Sample HTML:

<div class="musictemplate_container">
    <div class="musictemplate_left">
        something<br>
        omething<br>
        omething<br>
        omething<br>
        omething<br>
        omething<br>
        omething<br>
        omething<br>
    </div>
    <div class="musictemplate_right">
        right1
    </div>
</div>

Suggested CSS:

.musictemplate_container {
    width: 100%;
    margin: 0 auto;
}

.musictemplate_left {
    width: 20%;
    float: left;
    padding: 30px;
}

.musictemplate_right {
    width: 80%;
    padding: 30px;
}

Answer №1

Everything appears to be functioning correctly from my perspective. The only situation in which overflow might occur is when a particularly lengthy word with numerous characters causes it not to break properly. However, to prevent any overflowing altogether, you simply need to specify the overflow property:

.musictemplate_left {
width: 20%;
float: left;
padding: 30px;
overflow: hidden;
}
