Setting a div to occupy the entire height of a webpage using HTML and CSS

Is there a way to make the div (the blue box) fill the entire page? I tried setting the body tag to height:100%, but it didn't work.

You can view an example at http://jsfiddle.net/rVyrX/1/

Answer №1

Employ

body,html
{
   height:100%;
}

Answer №2

To ensure proper sizing, make sure that every parent element has its height set to 100% along with the specific element you want to be sized at 100%. This method works under the condition that the target element (for example, a blue box div) is not absolutely positioned. If it is, you can alternatively set both its "top" and "bottom" values to zero.
