Logo-enhanced Navigation Bar in Bootstrap

Hey everyone, I've been experimenting with Bootstrap headers that include a logo before the "Brand" text. I'm facing an issue where the navbar doesn't resize properly, as shown in the screenshot below:

-

The navbar doesn't adjust to the height of the new "Brand". Here is a snippet from my navbar code:

<nav class="navbar navbar-default" role="navigation">
    <div class="container-fluid">
        <div class="navbar-header">
            <button type="button" class="navbar-toggle" data-toggle="collapse" data-target="#bs-example-navbar-collapse-1">
                <span class="sr-only">Toggle navigation</span>
                <span class="icon-bar"></span>
                <span class="icon-bar"></span>
                <span class="icon-bar"></span>
            </button>
            <a class="navbar-brand" href="#"><img src="img/samplelogo.png" alt="CansoX" class="logo" /> &nbsp; Conquer and Explore </a>
        </div>

         <div class="collapse navbar-collapse" id="bs-example-navbar-collapse-1">
          <ul class="nav navbar-nav navbar-right">
            <li><a href="#">Link</a></li>
            <li class="dropdown">
              <a href="#" class="dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown">Dropdown <b class="caret"></b></a>
              <ul class="dropdown-menu">
                <li><a href="#">Action</a></li>
                <li><a href="#">Another action</a></li>
                <li><a href="#">Something else here</a></li>
                <li class="divider"></li>
                <li><a href="#">Separated link</a></li>
              </ul>
            </li>
          </ul>
        </div>
    </div>
</nav>

If anyone has encountered this issue before, I would greatly appreciate some guidance. Thank you! :)

Answer №1

Maybe increasing the height of the element could work:

.navbar-brand{
    height: 300px;
}

Answer №2

My suggestion is to include the class="clearfix" within the wrapping of the logo and dropdown elements.

Answer №3

The issue at hand is likely due to your logo being floated left, causing its container to lose its understanding of proper positioning. This results in uncertainty regarding size. A simple solution could involve adding overflow: hidden or a border, but this may lead to unforeseen complications later on. The optimal approach would be to utilize a micro-clear-fix, which is likely integrated into the framework you are using. Simply apply the class in the HTML element experiencing collapse, or if working with LESS or SASS, extend the class appropriately in your SCSS to maintain clean HTML structure.
