I encountered the same issue when I initially used your code, but I managed to resolve it by replacing the bootstrap.js script with a different one.
The root cause of the problem was a backslash present in the URL of the Bootstrap js file.
<script src="https://stackpath.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.1.3/\ js/bootstrap.min.js"
integrity="sha384-ChfqqxuZUCnJSK3+MXmPNIyE6ZbWh2IMqE241rYiqJxyMiZ\ 6OW/JmZQ5stwEULTy"
crossorigin="anonymous"></script>
Instead of
https://stackpath.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.1.3/\ js/bootstrap.min.js
which contained a backslash, it should have been https://stackpath.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.1.3/js/bootstrap.min.js
.
By switching to the latest version of the js file, we were able to fix the issue. However, the original js file can still be used if the path is corrected.
