What is the best and most effective way to style multiple paragraphs within a div or semantic tag, each with different styles? Also, I have noticed that when I include an h1 tag inside the article, it does not display at the expected size. Does anyone know why?

jsfiddle

For example:

tio

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Donec odio. Quisque volutpat mattis eros. Nullam malesuada erat ut turpis. Suspendisse urna nibh, viverra non, semper suscipit, posuere a, pede.

Donec nec justo eget felis facilisis fermentum. Aliquam porttitor mauris sit amet orci. Aenean dignissim pellentesque felis.Donec nec justo eget felis facilisis fermentum. Aliquam porttitor mauris sit amet orci. Aenean dignissim pellentesque felis.Donec nec justo eget felis facilisis fermentum. Aliquam porttitor mauris sit amet orci. Aenean dignissim pellentesque felis.

Answer №1

Query 1

To style different paragraphs uniquely, explore CSS Selectors which enable you to pinpoint individual elements based on their position within the DOM tree. For instance, you can target the first
child element of
using the following code snippet:

article p:first-of-type { //first
that is child of

    color: yellow;
}

or

p:nth-child(2) { //all p tags that are second child elements (the first
in your case)
    color: yellow;
}

Either of these methods will focus on the first
element in your scenario. JS Fiddle Demo for Q1

Query 2

When an
tag is nested within an
tag, it alters the element by scaling down its size and introducing margin.

It is the equivalent of the following CSS code snippet:

    h1 {
        font-size: 1.5em;
        -webkit-margin-before: 0.83em;
        -webkit-margin-after: 0.83em;
    }
