Is it possible to customize the color of the placeholder and clear-icon in the ion-search bar without affecting

I am working with two ion-search bars and I need to customize the placeholder and clear icon color for just one of them.

<ion-searchbar class="search-bar"
                placeholder="search"></ion-searchbar>

My goal is to target a specific ion-search bar and change the placeholder and clear icon color without affecting the global settings. I want the other ion-search bar to keep its default colors. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

If you're working with css, one way to address this is by utilizing the [style] attribute and invoking a function that will provide the specific class you require.

     @Component({
      selector: 'my-app',
      template: `
<ion-searchbar [style]="getStyle()" class="search-bar"
                placeholder="search"></ion-searchbar>
      `
    })
    export class App {

      getStyle() {
        // code snippet -> fetch the URL from a source
        const profilePicUrl = 'some-remote-server-url.jpg';
        const style = `background-image: url(${profilePicUrl})`;
        return style;
      }

    }

My solution involves using only CSS:

 .searchbar-input-container{
          .searchbar-input{
            &::-webkit-input-placeholder { /* Chrome/Opera/Safari */
              color: white;
            }
            &::-moz-placeholder { /* Firefox 19+ */
              color: white;
            }
            &:-ms-input-placeholder { /* IE 10+ */
              color: white;
            }
            &:-moz-placeholder { /* Firefox 18- */
              color: white;
            }
          }
          .searchbar-clear-icon{
            filter: invert(100);
          }

The code changes the placeholder color to white and uses filter invert(100) to turn black elements into white. It may not be the optimal solution, but it's a workaround that eliminates the need to change the image URL.

After some investigation, I came to the realization that the image in question was actually a background image. I decided to swap it out with an Ionic icon instead, specifically opting for a material design icon in my case. If you want to find the corresponding content property for your desired icon, you can search within the Ionic CSS using the icon's name.

.searchbar-input-container {
   .searchbar-clear-icon {
      background-image: none;
   }

   .searchbar-clear-icon:before {
      font-family: "Ionicons";
      content: "\f2bf";
      color: blue;
   }
}
