How to Incorporate the Angular Material Theme into Your Angular 17 Stackblitz Projects

Stackblitz's previous versions included a styles.css file where we could simply import prebuilt themes like this:

@import "~@angular/material/prebuilt-themes/indigo-pink.css";

However, in the latest version of Stackblitz which utilizes global_styles.css, this method causes errors.

Seeking guidance on importing themes in Stackblitz with Angular 17. What steps should be taken?

Answer №1

v17 utilizes the application builder for starting a project from scratch.

This builder is based on Esbuild, which does not recognize the use of "~" in the path (a feature found in webpack).

To resolve this issue, simply eliminate the ~.

@import '@angular/material/prebuilt-themes/indigo-pink.css';

Additionally, make sure to include MatButtonModule in your example and remember to import the icons font as well.
