How can I use HTML to display a new image next to the base image when I hover over it, showing both images side by side?

Looking for assistance with creating a comic webpage containing 2 cartoons. I want the dialog or mind-thought of each cartoon to appear on the page when a user hovers over them.

Anyone able to offer some help with this?

Answer №1

Is this along the lines of what you're looking for?

img {
  max-width: 100%;
}
.image {
  position: relative;
  display: inline-block;
  width: 300px;
}
.image .dialog-image {
  opacity: 0;
  transition: opacity 300ms;
  position: absolute;
  top: 0;
  right: 10px;
  width: 100px;
}
.image:hover .dialog-image {
  opacity: 1;
}
<div class="image">
  <img src="http://www.jamiesale-cartoonist.com/wp-content/uploads/cartoon-duck-free.png" alt="">
  <div class="dialog-image">
    <img src="https://d30y9cdsu7xlg0.cloudfront.net/png/23875-200.png" alt="">
  </div>
</div>

Answer №2

To enhance your dialog box, assign it a class name like "dialog" and incorporate the following CSS:

.dialog{
   position:absolute;
   z-index:2;
   display:none;
}

.dialog:hover{
   display:block;
}

The position:absolute; property places the dialog box above the image - adjust the positioning according to your HTML structure.
