Error with Display of ASCII Character 62 in Superfish Menu

Currently, I have implemented the Superfish menu on my website. In order to indicate sub-menus within my menus, I have opted to utilize the character entity code >, which historically has represented ">".

Oddly enough, while viewing my website on IE8, I noticed that instead of the familiar greater than symbol ">", there are now two minuscule square boxes arranged next to each other in its place.

I am uncertain as to why the HTML ASCII character for 62 is not displaying properly.

I am unable to provide a visual demonstration at the moment as I am unsure of where I can upload an image.

Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your help.
