Ensure the TUMBLR og:image appears in larger dimensions for enhanced visibility [updated: additional code implemented]

I recently incorporated two widgets into my blog - one on the sidebar and another attached to each post. You can check them out at .

To enhance the visual appeal, I uploaded a 900x900 og:image to the tumblr static servers, accessible through my FB Debug page.

Despite diligently following suggestions from various forums and implementing numerous fixes, nothing seems to be working.

The real puzzle is that while the sidebar box_count widget functions properly, the post-embed widget does not.

If anyone has any valuable insights or solutions to offer, I would greatly appreciate your assistance.

Answer №1

Currently, your theme is looking for an image that is 500px or smaller:

{block:Photo}
    <meta property="og:image" content="{PhotoURL-500}"/>
    {block:Caption}<meta property="og:description" content="{PlaintextCaption}"/>{/block:Caption}
{/block:Photo}

If you want to fetch the highest resolution image, you will need to use this theme block / variable:

{block:Photo}
    <meta property="og:image" content="{block:HighRes}{PhotoURL-HighRes}{/block:HighRes}"/>
    {block:Caption}<meta property="og:description" content="{PlaintextCaption}"/>{/block:Caption}
{/block:Photo}

I suggest being careful because if a high-resolution version of the image is not available, there may not always be a fallback URL provided.
