Empty space at the footer of a document

Recently, while working on multiple websites, I've encountered an issue where a mysterious blank bar keeps appearing at the bottom of the screen. Despite inspecting the elements thoroughly, I am unable to pinpoint the cause. Both the html and body elements have been set with margin: 0 and padding: 0.

Could anyone provide suggestions on how to eliminate this unwanted blank bar?

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Answer №1

Ensure to eliminate the   from your clear-fixed divs. The presence of the space character, despite setting height:0, will cause the div to occupy unnecessary space. Once it is removed, the div will collapse correctly.

Answer №2

My hunch may be completely wrong, but it seems like a plugin you have installed is causing a smiley face to appear at the bottom of your page. It could potentially be the popular posts plugin responsible for this.

Why not experiment by deactivating each plugin individually to see if the issue resolves?
