Is it doable using only CSS selectors?
Modifying an element in CSS may not be straightforward, but it is possible to mimic the transformation of <span>Hello</span>
into <h1>Hello</h1>
using only CSS by applying specific styles to the span
selector. Here is an example:
span {
display: block;
font-size: 2em;
margin-top: 0.67em;
margin-bottom: 0.67em;
margin-left: 0;
margin-right: 0;
font-weight: bold;
}
Check out this JSFiddle for a demonstration.
Please note that although the above CSS will style the span like an h1
tag, it won't carry over all other properties of an actual h1
. To fully replicate the transition, consider using JavaScript as shown below:
var mySpan = document.getElementById("span");
var myH1 = document.createElement("h1");
myH1.innerHTML = mySpan.innerHTML;
myAnchor.parentNode.replaceChild(myH1, mySpan);
