Create a custom HTML webpage with unique CSS, avoiding the use of generic application styles

The majority of the HTML pages are designed with a basic layout, however, there is one page that requires a timeline layout. Unfortunately, this conflicts with the existing universal app CSS, causing the timeline to appear scattered across the screen. Is it feasible to create a new CSS specifically for this one page? The timeline section consists of a code snippet, so once the necessary changes are made, it should not need to be further modified.

Answer №1

Perhaps consider enclosing the webpage within a container with the following styling:

.container {
    all: initial;
}

.container * {
    all: unset;
}

By doing this, it will reset the styles of all elements within the container.

Answer №2

A solution to customize the styling of a specific page is to create a separate CSS file for that page. In this file, only include the styles that need to be different from the general styles. Then, import both the general styles and the specific styles into the HTML file, making sure to import the specific styles after the general styles. Here's an example setup:

styles.css

h1{
    font-size:2em;
}

specific.css

h1{
    font-size:1.5em;
}

specific.html

<link href="styles.css" />
<link href="specific.css" />

By importing the specific styles after the general styles, the specific styles will take precedence and override any conflicting styles from the general stylesheet. Hopefully, this solution helps you achieve the desired styling for your specific page.
