Chrome not displaying fonts properly

Having a font issue in Chrome where specifying "Myriad Pro", Tahoma, Arial results in weird symbols. Works fine in FF, IE, and Safari. Using font-family: Tahoma, Arial; works for all browsers including Chrome. How can Myriad Pro be achieved for IE, FF, and Safari while working well in Chrome? Thank you!

Answer №1

Unfortunately, Myriad Pro is not supported as a web font, leading to potential issues with compatibility across different browsers and devices. This can result in some visitors only being able to view the backup font Tahoma instead.

To solve this problem, consider using @font-face technology. A great tool for this is FontSquirrel's @font-face Generator, which allows you to upload your desired font files and generates the necessary CSS for consistent display in most browsers, including older versions like IE6!

Answer №2

To change the font stack in CSS, try removing Myriad font first and then refreshing your page. Once you've done that, add the font back to your stack and refresh again. I did this and it surprisingly worked for me. Give it a try!

Answer №3

Do you use a Mac? I discovered a solution for this issue:

Answer №4

"Verdana", Helvetica, Georgia;

could it possibly be

"Verdana", Helvetica, Georgia, sans-serif;

Answer №5

It is possible that the issue lies with the browser being unable to access the font for some unknown reason. I have experienced this on Opera before, where only certain fonts were accessible while special fonts remain inaccessible. Even after trying to update or reinstall, the problem persisted until I upgraded from Vista to 7, which miraculously resolved the issue.
