Apply a dual-color gradient background vertically

I am trying to figure out how to achieve a two-tone background color in an HTML document. I know this question has been asked before, but I specifically want the colors to be split vertically rather than horizontally.

Answer №1

Not sure what you came across, but one way to achieve this effect is by utilizing the CSS property linear-gradient:

body {
height: 100vh;
background: linear-gradient(0deg, rgba(204,0,0,1) 50%, rgba(0,212,255,1) 50%);
}
<body>
</body>

All that's required is to specify the angle as 0 degrees.

Answer №2

To apply custom styling using CSS, you can follow this example:

#customStyle {
  height: 100%;
  background-color: blue; /* Fallback color for non-supporting browsers */
  background-image: linear-gradient(orange, white, green);
}

Then, include this CSS in your HTML:

<div id="customStyle"></div>

Remember to adjust the color codes and dimensions to suit your specific requirements.

Answer №3

If you want to achieve this effect, follow these simple steps.

<div>
        <div className='first'>
          hello
        </div>
        <div className='second'>
          hi
        </div>
      </div>

Here is the corresponding CSS:

.first{
  height: calc(50vh);
  background: blue;
}
.second{
  height: calc(50vh);
    background: red;
}
