An error in validation arises when working with CSS nesting structures

Why does the W3C CSS Validation Service show a Parse Error when written as mentioned in the CSS Nesting Module?

.foo {
  color: red;

  .bar {
    color: blue;
  }
}

Is it possible to remove this error?

Answer №1

The crucial aspect lies in the status of the document. The CSS Nesting Module is currently still in its draft phase.

You are faced with three options:

  1. Patience until the specification transitions to a recommendation (which may take several years). It is assumed that upon this transition, the W3C will update their validator accordingly.
  2. Disregard the validation error message, or opt out of using the W3C validator altogether.
  3. Avoid utilizing nesting techniques.
