Will refreshing a browser's software automatically delete the cache?

When the browser's software is updated, what happens to the cache?

For instance, let's say I have some code hosted on a third-party website that includes an embedded logo image. If the host updates the logo and I clear the cache, the new logo will show up. So, if I update the browser, will the cache automatically be cleared (showing the new logo), or will it retain the previous logo?

Answer №1

The effectiveness of updating your browser can vary depending on the method used. Typically, you would need to "force clear cache" for the cached data to ensure the changes reflect properly (e.g. using ctrl + f5 for Windows or cmd + R for Mac). Failure to do so could result in your old logo still being displayed.
