What steps can I follow to ensure that the Twitter Bootstrap Collapsable Navbar is automatically open when the page

When the browser window is less than 980px wide and one visits Twitter Bootstrap's GitHub page, the navigation options are collapsed.

To expand the options such as "Home", "Get Started", "Scaffolding," etc., simply click the button in the upper-right corner.

Is there a way to set Twitter Bootstrap to always show these options by default? Alternatively, custom CSS or JavaScript could be used for this purpose.

I am worried that some users may miss the button in the upper-right corner and not realize they need to click it to access the site's navigation options.

Answer №1

To achieve this effect, simply include the class .in along with

.container .nav-collapse.collapse
.

<div class="container">
  <div class="nav-collapse collapse"> <!-- when collapsed -->
   Insert some HTML content here
  </div>
  <div class="nav-collapse collapse in"> <!-- when expanded -->
   Add more HTML content here
  </div>
</div>

Answer №2

To achieve this, simply adjust the height of

.container .nav-collapse.collapse
to auto.

When you toggle the menu, the height is dynamically set to auto and the collapsed class is removed from the button.

Please keep in mind that I have only tested this method using my console, so you may need to experiment with how you implement the height adjustment.
