What is the best way to keep a bootstrap navbar fixed at the top when scrolling? (It's a bit tricky)

Check out this image of my website header.
HERE

Is there a way to achieve a smooth scrolling effect for the blue navbar as I scroll down the page?

(Specifically just the navbar, excluding the logo and social media elements).

Using position:fixed; doesn't allow the navbar to reach the very top when scrolling down (clearly).

Answer №1

   .navigation-bar {
        margin: 0;
        padding: 0;
        overflow: hidden;
    }

If you set the margin and padding of the navigation bar to 0, it should solve the issue.

Answer №2

If you are using Bootstrap, consider utilizing the Bootstrap Affix feature for enhanced functionality: http://getbootstrap.com/javascript/#affix

By incorporating the data-spy, data-offset-top, and data-offset-bottom attributes, you can implement affix behavior and specify when to toggle an element's pinning.
