What is the best way to create a partially scrolling image? Striking a balance between position:fixed and position:absolute

I need the background image to smoothly move up and down as the user scrolls, staying in a fixed position relative to the content. It's kind of like a combination of being fixed to the screen and absolutely positioned.

Take a look at this example: Notice how the background image behind the text "We take pride in the work we do and we do it with extra care" shifts as you scroll, yet remains partially fixed.

Answer №1

After examining the website using Firebug, I discovered that the background-image of the div element is being altered by the background-position style, likely triggered by a scroll event. This dynamic effect is what creates the visual impact.
