What is the best way to align the navbar elements horizontally and at an equal height?

I am currently working on creating a navigation bar for my webpage using bootstrap. I have utilized the <li> tags, but I am facing an issue where the items are not lining up properly. Below is the code for reference:

<nav class="navbar navbar-expand-lg">
    <ul class="navbar-nav mr-auto">
        <li class="nav-item">
            <a class="nav-link" href="#">HOME</a>
        </li>
        <li class="nav-item">
            <i class="fa-solid fa-chevron-right"></i>
        </li>
        <li class="nav-item">
            <a class="nav-link" href="#">CATEGORY   </a>
        </li>
    </ul>
</nav>

Attached is a screenshot of the current output:

To create a navigation bar with a logo, links, and a menu icon, use flexbox.

For instance, you can structure the navbar like this:

<nav class="d-flex justify-content-between align-items-center">
  <div> logo </div>
  <div>
   <ul class="d-flex justify-content-between align-items-center">
     <li>link1</li>
     <li>link1</li>
     <li>link1</li>
   </ul>
  </div>
</nav>
